Joking about rape is simply wrong. If the move was to increase ratings and even negative attention applies, then the man has stooped to new low-levels. His comedy is unique but this is just not a joke. Can we joke about 9/11? No, and nor can we joke about violence against women.

So far I haven’t heard anything from Letterman or any other comics on Palin’s stepping down.

But I think this is another example of why she’s a selected target by late night comedians; she made this move which may be to position herself for future campaigning, but she called the press conference so hastily that the media wasn’t prepared and the CNN video coverage had embarrassingly amateur camera footage. Did you see that?

Hey Donald, no offense intended okay? I just respectfully disagree with a couple of points here.

I think it’s difficult to discuss unless the two sides agree on which daughter was being referenced in the joke. If you’re talking about the younger one, statutory rape would apply – At 14, she hasn’t reached the age of consent yet, right? That’s not the case with the 18-year-old.

My suggestion that Palin is shameless was not made because she defended her daughter, but for her apparent ambition to further her career in office based on other accounts in the media months before this.

By the way, today’s Chicago Tribune reports she’s accepted his apology and he’s stated that there’s no defense of the joke, given his responsibility for the possible interpretation of it.

I see that he has made his second, more serious, apology now that they are outside with signs calling for his job. I still think it was just a ratings ploy, all agreed to behind closed doors. They knew he wasn’t going anywhere and it created the expected media explosion. It’s just sad that they stoop to such low levels for press.

I don’t think it matters what age or who’s daughter it was Ricardo. To put it plain and simple for you it was just wrong.

How would you feel and react if someone said that about your daughter if you even have one. After reading your reply I would think you don’t have a daughter.

You think Palin is shameless for defending her daughter but yet you did not say one thing about (to dumb to be funny) David Letterman.

David Letterman has no Moral Values.

Moral Values Relating to, dealing with, or capable of making the distinction between right or wrong conduct. Principles, standards habits with respect to right or wrong in conduct. The social principles, goals or standards held or accepted by an individual, are a society.

I think it was sloppy research on the part of his writing staff. They should have been aware of which daughter was at the game.

I didn’t know she had a 14 year old daughter, I assumed he was talking about the older one who had a baby. And if that actually was the case, then referring to statutory rape is quite a stretch.

Palin is trying to get every ounce of publicity out of this by not letting it go. I think she’s shameless in her pursuit of a higher public office and her outspoken remarks and winking at the camera have made her fair game on many issues… Although this one has become nasty when the young daughter was referenced.

I think we all know that, that was not a joke. It came straight from his ice cold heart if he even has one. Besides Who would call David Letterman a Comedian. I have tried to watch him a few times only to have to change the channel within 15 sec’s.
