Why Stress? – Just Simplify

Posted by admin On June - 6 - 2009

Can you see what is on the horizon, looks like $11 a pack cigarettes, higher unemployment, higher gas prices,  the implemenation of a large value added tax (VAT)  increases and all while we are struggling to get through one of the most difficult time in years.  Many have already succumbed to living with increased stress.

I don’t have to tell you how bad stress is for you physical and mental health.  There are hundreds of articles and books already written about strees and the negative effects that it can have on your life.  Stress can make your life much more difficult, and ultimately it can bring you down.

Watching television and listing to radio doesn’t help, most of the popular shows take one side or the other, telling us how much better change will be or saying that we are headed into deep water with the changes proposed.

While I don’t think “don’t worry, be happy” is an entirely appropriate direction, I do think that simplifying ones life is a good idea.  Getting rid of excess baggage in our lives like expensive, gas eating toys is not a bad idea.  Do you really need that second boat or camping trailer?  How long has it been since you got on those ATV’s or motorcycles?

How about making a serious run at your boss regarding working from home?  Even a day or two a week would cut commute time, gas expenses, clothing costs and generally make you life less stressful.  If not, how about trying to get the work week shortened to four 9 hour days?  It takes an effort, but if you can find ways to increase the quality of your life by managing your time better, you will likely decrease your stress.

I think that’s a great idea to try to work from home more. Every day without a rush hour commute is a little easier to deal with, I’d say.

Depending on what you’re doing, you may be able to do a work shift from your couch, in your pajamas.

Jeez. These past few days have been so stressful for me too. I am glad I have my friends who comfort me when I need them. They are my stress relievers. :)

I think you’ve got a point. Simplifying our lives would really help lessen our stress.

Working at home is a great idea and it would really lessen your stress. I am currently doing some online jobs. Now, I get more time to spend with my family at the same time I’ll have extra income.

What I hate about my school is that it’s too far from my home. I spend hours traveling from home to school and vice versa. The traffic also irritates me. This happens everyday and this makes me more stressful. I’m glad whenever I reach our home, my mother prepares my favorite foods. :D

I think this is a good time to push an employer about a shorter work week, things are slow for many businesses due to the recession, so the “body count” at the office just isn’t as important as it once was. It’s something that may not be possible now that in the past simply was not.

  6. Ricardo says:

In the last while, I’ve heard of people having to take more days off and having hours cut back, so I guess it is happening at some places.

I think that’s a pretty good thing unless somebody’s really strapped and needs the extra days or hours.

Being stressed out is a worse feeling that anyone can feel. It’s like the earth suddenly spins around you and gets faster and faster for each and every turn.

I must say that worries from financial issues to health issues makes us more stressed out. I have been out of work for a year now for medical reasons and it’s really very depressing not to be able to help out my family on our needs.

The only thing to fight out stress is spending time with your family and checking on each other, to see if everyone is doing just fine.

And of course, we should have a strong faith in these dark times.

The whole world is going worst day by day. Main reason behind it, is we lost faith at each other. At present day we are running behind money and in between this race we are loosing our blood relations too. Please spread Love, do Love and save the whole human-being.

  9. takatenamano says:

That was a great idea. Why take on things seriously when you don’t have to anyway, right? What interest me is when you mentioned working at home. Not all work can be done home you see. But at least the idea is there. Making your life easier. Great article.

  10. Ricardo says:

Some careers are more stressful than others. I heard an interesting stat about high technology careers. I forget the exact details, but the point was that in some multi-year courses where people learn new technology, the subject matter has become obsolete before they’re finished because of new advances during their course. That must be hard to deal with.

They say that the secret to a long life is not so much about money, food, vitamins and exercize as it is about having a close family and friends. So you have hit on one of those things that are simple and really lower stress.

  12. mozart says:

How do you cope your self when you are stress? The “don’t worry, be happy” that this article mentioned could help us eliminate some stress. I encountered a friend, that every time she felt stressed, cigarette is the thing that she will looked into. Could this really help to relieve stress?

  13. admin says:

I’m not the best one to give advice on how to get rid of stress, I have Italian and Irish genes, my first reaction usually raises my blood pressure 30 points. I do have friends who take stressful news and have learned to not to immediately react. I think with practice you can take it all in stride because you never solve anything through those emotional reactions.

  14. savvyeyty says:

One good point to consider when relieving stress would be change of things. Be with your family and friends, go out. As long as you do something new, you probably would relieve your stress so easily.

  15. desiree says:

Yes i agree with it. All we gonna do is to simplify our lifestyle.

  16. mozart says:

That was a nice suggestion savvyeyty. Don’t worry I’ll take your advice. Can you imagine how great it is to have a family and friends? They can help you if you’re in stressed or have problem.

I also remember guys, that if you spelled back stressed it’s like desserts. So, why think more of it, it’s just a desserts of life?

  17. Ricardo says:

Good friends and close family can be very helpful, but I dare say in some cases, particularly involving in-laws, extended family can cause stress. I find it alright in small groups, but in larger family groups I’ve always felt a little strange for some reason.

I try to choose settings with quality time between individuals rather than a large group with several conversations going on at once.

  18. mozart says:

You got your point Ricardo. Well, in my case I’m not the kind of person that really like to mingle with a large group of people because it sometimes causes you to stress. Self meditation would also help. Right? What do you think?

  19. dparker says:

excersize is the biggest stress buster around

  20. lyka says:

well i think its a good idea..less stress means long life to me! what do you think huh!

  21. mozart says:

Your absolutely correct lyka. We have to live our life stress free for a secret of longer living. Right? However, stress is one thing that can’t be avoided, it is always present anytime and anywhere. Do you agree?

  22. krisskross says:

When one manages his time well, stress would most likely decrease. The statement is absolutely true. You must have a list of priorities so you’ll be able to focus on what should be done first. When you’re working, don’t bring it at home. Always think positive. For me, all these pressures are part of my life. We cannot totally eliminate stress but we could lessen it, am I right?

  23. millionaireman says:

Aside from thinking positive, one must act positively as well. What do you think? Stress really drains the people physically, emotionally and mentally. You have to relax, don’t overuse your body. Time management is important and you have to include a schedule to unwind.

  24. Peace says:

In today’s fast paced world, one can not avoid stress at job. Continuous stress leads to physical problems as mind and body have a close relationship. One way to lessen stress to have better time management and keeping a part of available time for your hobbies.

  25. Gh0st4unt3r says:

I believe if you try to balance hobbies or events after you have done with work so that you do feel less stressed, I no this would not work all the time but in theory it keeps the stress levels at bay, even if you try a bit of running, swimming or even the gym.

As peace mentioned above no one could avoid stress at work unless its a dream job that includes your hobbies.

  26. mozart says:

Well, I agree with you, millionaireman. To think and act positive could also the best way to manage stress. But, how about those persons who think positive still failures comes within? Maybe my own experienced would be a concrete example to this, sometimes I looked things possible, however, failure is still there even if I tried my best to did it.
